Are you looking to adopt? Here are several strategies you can try

The Minnesota Department of Human Services announced that it is had 489 children waiting to be adopted late last year. Some of these children are also available to be cared for by willing foster parents. Some parents find their way to parenthood via the foster-parent route. A child comes into their home, they fall in love, and they adopt the child: It's as simple as that.

An article featured in the White Bear Press recently depicted the beautiful story of a foster parent couple who brought their first foster baby home -- an 8-month-old boy -- in 2012. A little more than a year later, they had adopted the baby and were taking in other foster children to care for. Over a period of several years, seven different children came to live with them at times.

Eventually, the family decided they wanted to adopt a second child, as a permanent sibling for their baby boy. That's when they pursued different adoption strategy via the Children's Home Society, which conducts interviews between the children and the family so that both are happy that they've found the right match. A social worker is also involved the selection process to ensure that both the family and the children have made the right choice. The family adopted two children -- a boy and a girl -- who first came into their home as foster kids, and were later adopted nearly a year later.

If you're interested in adopting a child, or the Minnesota foster care program, you might want to discuss your options with an experienced family law attorney. A family law attorney who helps Minnesota residents with adoptions can provide a variety to strategies and solutions to move your adoption dreams forward to become a reality.
